Class struggle in France: neither calm nor compromise

The general strike in France against the government’s neoliberal plans continues. There is no peace or compromise in sight.

December 5 is another high point in the long history of the class struggle in France. According to the CGT, 1.5 million people took part in protests and demonstrations against the government’s planned pension reform.
There were no trains and airplanes remained on the ground while pupils and students took part in the protests instead of classes.

French working class and working people, as well as employees of hospitals and the fire department joined the call. The call was also supported by unions, the National Front (Front National) and left wing parties such as the Communist Party (PCF), the Socialist Party, the unyielding France Party, the Socialist Party and the Yellow West Movement.

Resistance and confrontation developed against the neoliberal policy, which after years of austerity policies for the working people is now plundering the pension funds. One of the goals of the government plans, is a lucrative business for private insurance companies, who can make a lot of profit from the impending of old age poverty .Contrary to the expectations of President Macron, who made concessions and promised improvements, the protests and strikes flared up again on December 9th. It stands for the continuation of the struggle and the uncompromising attitude of the working class and working people.

Even the suppression and brutal use of force by the French police could not break the protesters will.

Even though two police unions supported the strike call, the police, as the state’s repressive body, did their job in the service of the capitalists. Hundreds of people were injured by rubber bullets and hundreds were arrested. The Foreign Committee of the Fadaian Organization (Aghaliyat) supports the struggle of French workers against the neoliberal government policies and against the capitalistic order. We strongly condemn the French government’s policy of oppression and call on all workers worldwide to support the ongoing struggle in France. The class enemy in France is the same capitalist class that stands in Chile, Lebanon, Iraq and Iran against the workers and is determined to destroy all their political, social and economic rights through brutal oppression.

Workers of all countries unite!
Long live socialism – Long live freedom!
